My name is Jeanette Burton owner and head therapist at Little Luxuries based in the
village of Barton under Needwood. I have been in the hair and beauty business for
30 years in a variety of roles.
On leaving school in 1984 I trained as a hairdresser and for a number of years was
operating mobile around the Ashby and Coalville area, after a few years I decided
that I wanted to diversify into more skin care and became an Avon representative.
In 1993 I got married and moved into the Burton on Trent area and decided that I
wanted something more permanent with a local base to work from and became a Clinique
counter manager at Heaven Scent in Burton on Trent, where I worked until my first
child was born in 1996.
Whilst on maternity leave I re-evaluated what I wanted to do and enrolled at Burton
College to work towards my NVQ level 3 in Aromatherapy Massage and Body Therapy Massage
allowing me to work mobile to fit around child care needs later working part time
at Revive Tone & Beauty a toning and beauty salon in Newhall. In 2005 I took over
ownership of Revive Tone and Beauty and spent a number of years further studying
for qualifications in waxing, manicure and pedicure, Cal gel Nails, CACI non surgical
face and body treatments, universal body wraps, St Tropez self tanning, spray tanning,
all of which allowed me to expand the range of treatments that I could offer to clients.
In 2008 I took on a brand new empty unit at the Barton Turns Marina complex and fitted
it out as a beauty salon with shop selling skin bath and body care products and Little
Luxuries was born. I have traded as Little Luxuries ever since and have now moved
to a smaller salon in a prime location in the centre of the village where I can continue
to offer my clients those special treatments or as I like to call them “Your own
special little luxury.”
